Libri Prohibiti
This project is an independent Branding exploration for Libri Prohibiti in Prague, Czech Republic. The name "Libri Prohibiti" is derived from Latin, signifying "forbidden books." This library serves as an archive housing over 22,000 books and publications that were banned during the communist regime.
Produced on typewriters and distributed through underground channels, these books carry a powerful history. Countless authors faced exile, and civilians were imprisoned for possessing these forbidden works, making Libri Prohibiti a symbol of unwavering resilience.

Censorship in print is symbolised through the pervasive use of black bars, obscuring individual passages and dominating the design.
The library's identity is inherently kinetic, mirroring its ever-evolving and expanding nature. The logo itself embodies the notion of censorship, and when rotated at a right angle, it evokes the image of a book's spine. This dynamic identity captures the spirit and significance of Libri Prohibiti as a repository of suppressed knowledge and the enduring human spirit.
